‘Twas nine days before Christmas, when all through the house
Not an arcade game went untouched, especially Joust;
The Ectos were parked outside with great care,
The beams of rotating blue and green lights flashing in the air;
The DFW Ghostbusters were working their way to the bar,
But the bartender’s line was stretching really far;
Free Play Arcade’s patrons had come out en masse,
To play retro games, drink beer, and kick %*#;
When up on the stage there arose such a clatter,
‘Twas Freedom! A George Michael tribute band, causing much chatter.
With spiked hot chocolates in our grubby little hands,
We headed towards the stage to enjoy the band.
We posed for photos with fans and listened some more,
as Last Christmas played to a largely crowded floor.
The night was quite fun, and the games legendary,
With no evil spirits, our proton packs were unnecessary.
We partook in some food, and of course more drinks,
There was even ice skating in the parking lot, in a makeshift skating rink.
The staff was amazing, and the venue quite pleasing,
It was nice and warm inside, though outside was freezing.
“Now, DERRICK! Now, GAMALIEL! Now, DAVE and SLOAN!
The night has ended, and we must go home!
On, COOPER! On, AUTUMN! On, RACHEL! On, JASON!
On, CODY and GUY! Away, we must hasten!”
We gathered our equipment and proceeded toward the door,
But gave one look back at Free Play Arlington once more.
We loaded the Ectos and away we did fly,
With a slight tear in each of our eyes.
It had been an amazing night and on the games we spent not a dime,
HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND TRY NOT TO GET SLIMED!
